GenAI Direction / GenAI Production (Lyra Bloom)
Lyra Bloom serves as an ongoing research and development project exploring the intersection of traditional visual storytelling and emerging generative AI production workflows. Working as creative director, storyboard artist, and production lead, I developed story concepts, visual sequences, shot planning, and character continuity while guiding AI-assisted image and video generation toward specific narrative goals. The examples below illustrate a hybrid production process in which storyboards, visual development, editorial judgment, and iterative direction combine to transform written concepts into cinematic imagery. The project continues to inform my exploration of AI-assisted animation, visual storytelling, and next-generation production pipelines.
Penguin's Delivery Service – From Sketch to Screen
Penguin's Delivery Service was developed as a proof-of-concept short film demonstrating a complete storyboard-to-screen production workflow using a combination of traditional preproduction techniques and generative AI tools. Beginning with rough storyboards and narrative planning, each sequence was refined through shot design, visual iteration, editing, and final assembly into a coherent animated short. The materials below highlight the relationship between storyboard planning and finished imagery, illustrating how story structure, visual direction, and emerging AI technologies can be combined to support rapid prototyping and animated content development while maintaining creative oversight throughout the production process.
Visual Development & Character Exploration
Every animated project begins with exploration. These visual development studies demonstrate the early stages of character design, environmental design, style testing, and world-building used to establish the visual identity of a production. By combining traditional storytelling sensibilities with emerging AI-assisted creative tools, I rapidly explore characters, settings, moods, and production possibilities while maintaining a strong emphasis on narrative, appeal, and visual continuity. The resulting artwork serves as a foundation for story development, animation planning, and future production work.
AI Cinematography, Visual Effects & Experimental Media
This reel showcases live-action, hybrid-media, and experimental projects created through the integration of traditional filmmaking techniques and emerging generative AI tools. Working as writer, director, editor, and creative lead, I explore new approaches to visual storytelling that combine cinematography, visual effects, compositing, motion design, and AI-assisted image and video generation. These projects investigate how emerging technologies can expand creative possibilities while maintaining strong narrative intent, visual coherence, and production value. The work represents an ongoing exploration of next-generation filmmaking workflows and human-directed AI media production.
AI-Assisted Animation & Character Performance
This reel presents animated shorts, character studies, visual development experiments, and narrative sequences produced through a combination of traditional animation principles and emerging generative AI technologies. Drawing upon a professional background in feature animation, animation education, and visual storytelling, I guide the development of story, character performance, staging, pacing, and editorial structure while leveraging AI-assisted production tools to accelerate visual development and content creation. The projects featured here explore the evolving relationship between animation artistry and emerging technologies while maintaining a strong commitment to storytelling, appeal, and character-driven entertainment.
